Edison V – Male Yellow Labrador

Edison was born on May 13, 2022 to Male Yellow Labrador Gaius I [Front] [Side] and Female Yellow Labrador Wales II [Front] [Side]. He is being raised by Brenda and Mike. Edison came to us as a 15 month old transfer. The litter of six puppies included three yellow males, Edison, Eldon, and England, and three yellow females, East, Empress, and Estreya.
Edison was career changed for medical reasons 2 days before graduation.

Meaning of Manhattan:
1) An island in New York City surrounded by the Hudson, East, and Harlem rivers.
2) A cocktail made of whiskey and sweet vermouth, usually with a dash of bitters and a maraschino cherry.
3) A city on the Kansas River in the northeast central part of the state of Kansas.

From Wikipedia: The name Manhattan derives from the Munsee Lenape language term manaháhtaan (where manah- means “gather”, -aht- means “bow”, and -aan is an abstract element used to form verb stems). The Lenape word has been translated as “the place where we get bows” or “place for gathering the (wood to make) bows”. According to a Munsee tradition recorded by Albert Seqaqkind Anthony in the 19th century, the island was named so for a grove of hickory trees at the lower end that was considered ideal for the making of bows. It was first recorded in writing as Manna-hata, in the 1609 logbook of Robert Juet, an officer on Henry Hudson’s yacht Halve Maen (Half Moon). Denmark became a Pet Therapy Dog at the Kaiser Medical Center, certified through the Delta Society www.DeltaSociety.org.  Also a Kaiser Hospice Volunteer, visiting patients in their homes the last six months of their lives. She followed up with the family for bereavement visits after the patient passes away.

Denmark was happy to share her joy and love with those in need. In fact, in 2006, Denmark received additional certification as a Delta Crisis Therapy Dog, able to assist at major disaster sites. Good work, Denmark!
