Junior Blind Olympics, presented by Junior Blind of America was held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Junior Blind of America campus in Los Angeles. Opening Ceremonies included the Parade of Athletes, Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, the USC Marching Band, and Olympic gold and silver medal decathelete Rafer Johnson.
Events included Archery, Shot Put, Goal Ball, 100-Yard Dash, Running Long Jump, Rowing, Soccer Throw, and Aquatics. In the “Blindness Discovery Area,” participants could take part in activities intended to educate, enhance awareness, and increase sensitivity towards those who are blind and / or visually impaired.
Volunteers from LA Southwest, Antelope Valley, and GDB were available throughout the day as athlete volunteers and coaches, demonstrating Juno work, and providing those always popular “puppy pets.”
