On Saturday, June 4, 2011 ten GDB puppy raising clubs were represented at the recent 17th Annual Guide Dog Puppy Travel Day co-hosted by the Los Angeles MTA and Los Angeles Southwest Guide Dog Raisers.
Approximately 40 puppies and 130 raisers, families, and club members traveled on the trains via MetroLink or MetroRail to Union Station and then walked to historic El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical State Park – also known as Olvera Street – where they enjoyed the music, dancing, lunch, and shopping in the Mexican marketplace before returning home. During the welcoming program, CFR Rick, was recognized for his 10 years of service to our area and 22 total years with GDB.
