Camp Bloomfield is a 40-acre residential camp that provides life-changing recreational and camp experiences for hundreds of campers who are blind or visually impaired and their families. The overall impact of the camp experience itslef, the making of new and enduring friendships, and a powerful shared experience with others, are developed through the many activities that Camp Bloomfield provides.
The Junior Blind of America Camp Bloomfield Summer Festival on July 12, 2008 included a Blindness Discovery Area where LA Southwest Guide Dog Raisers were a part of the activities of the day. The activities offered by LASWGDR and GDB representatives were directed toward education about the use of guide dogs in general, and Guide Dogs for the Blind services in particular. Campers and families were treated to Juno walks, petting puppies in training, and an opportunity to read and take home literature about GDB’s services including the K-9 Buddy program.
